Amanda Brugel

Pointe Claire, a quiet neighborhood situated in the West Island of Montreal is what you might call a "sleepy" location. It is a bit of a mystery as the West Island can be confusing for those who aren't familiar with its meaning. It is often believed that it's an island located to the west of Montreal, but the West Island encompasses everything between the cities of Lachine as well as West. Amanda Brugel's hometown is often cited, however her short stay wasn't. Brugel grew in Courtice, just outside of Oshawa. Her early ambition was to be a dancer however a rapid growth rate meant that she literally outgrew the dancers she was with. The article she wrote about her experience revealed that was published in the Toronto Star that she is 6'1" tall and wears heels. As I grew older than my male partners I stopped. Many former dancers turn to acting and in the case of Brugel, it was a suggestion by her drama teacher. It was the teacher who recommended she take on a part in the school's annual production. The Fine Arts Talent Scholarship led her to York University, where she studied Theatre and received a Bachelors of Fine Arts in the year 2000. In the 20+ years since, Brugel has landed roles in over 60 shows on the big and small screens, attracting the greatest attention when she landed the role as Rita in the award-winning television series The Handmaid's Tale (pictured below). Brugel was the character Rita in The Handmaid's Tale, a series that was produced over the course of ten years.
